This year was my double-digit birthday! Though, it was different than all my other birthdays. Not like different because I was turning double digits, but it was because I celebrated my birthday in Covid-19 lockdown. Let me tell you about it.

It was 11:30 in the night when my parents woke me up and said, “Happy Birthday Shanzay!” After a while, I woke up and thought, yes! I am double digits! Then my mom said, “Come on, get in the car! Let’s go!” Once we got in the car I said, “Where are we going??” She said, “The place we went three years ago for your brother’s 10th birthday.” Then I thought, Lazy Dog! The only place I know that is open after midnight!

At Lazy Dog we ordered french fries and Fanta, my favorite soda! Once they gave us our orders we said thank you and headed for the trunk of our car. I took off my mask gave everyone hand sanitizer besides my mow because she was wiping everything with Clorox. I checked my watch. It was 11:50.

At 11:50 my mom’s phone rang. She told me to pick it up since she had not put on hand sanitizer on her hands yet. It was my grandma. She wished me a happy birthday and I told her not yet and that there were now five more minutes left so I told her what we got and where we were and then my alarm rang it was 12:00! Everybody wished me a happy birthday.

After they wished me happy birthday, I ran to the front seat of the car and started playing with the buttons and told my grandma all the things I was doing and then she told me to have fun and wished me a happy birthday again and told me she would call me in later in the day. I drank my Fanta and fries and then we headed home and I sat in the front and my mom had to sit in the back with my brother.

My brother and I made a deal that I would sit in the front for a month and then we would switch turns sitting in the front. I happily played with all the buttons on the side of the seat and realized that there was a seat warmer! Then I bragged to my brother that I did not have to sit on a cold seat and he did.

Just before I went to sleep last night, I frosted the cake that I made the day before. That night before going to sleep I blew the candles on my cake. The most exciting part was that it was a minimum day so I would end school at 11:00 in the morning! My brother’s lunchtime was at 11:00 so I could play with him for forty minutes before he had to go back to school.

After school was done I was going down the stairs and then I jumped! There were balloons right where the stairs stopped! Then my mom, dad, and brother said to jump in. I had so much fun jumping in the balloons and then my parents said that they took the whole day off! Wow! The day was getting better by the minute! In about an hour my cousin came over to wish me a socially distanced happy birthday. We ate my cake on a paper plate and with disposable utensils.

After we cut my cake, I had my piano class. I went ten minutes late because I wanted to open my present. My cousin’s family gave me a light-up S that I could hang up on the wall and gamer headphones that light up and have a microphone just what I asked for! At the end of music class, my teacher sang me a happy birthday.

After my class was done, we ate my favorite dinner, biryani while watching my favorite TV show “Chopped” which is a cooking show. Then we ate my cake again and then I went to sleep. I had a great birthday and I did not even think that we did it in a Covid-19 Lockdown.
